Oncology Department - Otago Area Health Board
A new linear accelerator is being installed in the Oncology Department of Dunedin Hospital. The electrical engineering requires a thorough understanding of the equipment being installed, a Clinac machine made by Varian, to ensure that all the circuits were correctly placed in the concrete bunker and ensure that no X-Rays can escape from the building via these conduits.
The control room and other facilities were all fitted out to the clients requirements. Harmonics in the supply and circuit impedance have to be inside particular parameters to ensure that this machine, and the existing ones, function correctly.
